Program for the diagnosis of sleep disorders
Forget about snoring!
Snoring is one of the sleep disorders that significantly reduces the quality of life and can lead to severe complications.
Snoring is often accompanied by respiratory breaks (obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)), which often go unnoticed. In severe forms of snoring with apnea, there can be up to 400-500 breaks of breathing per night for a total duration of up to 3-4 hours. It can lead to acute and chronic deficit of oxygen.
Among other complications:
arterial hypertension (increased arterial pressure),
reduced potency in men (a significant disruption of sleep patterns leads to a decrease in testosterone production),
various types of reflux (flow back of the contents of the stomach into the esophagus, pharynx and larynx).
A decrease in the quality of sleep may also be indicated by:
noisy breathing when sleeping,
severe daytime sleepiness,
frequent waking and unrefreshing sleep,
weakness in the morning.
Often, people who snore have a low or hoarse voice due to chronic trauma of the pharynx structures while snoring. Finally, not only those who snore suffer from snoring, but also people sleeping next to them.
Which doctor should I see?
An integrated approach is essential in the diagnostics of snoring causes. Our program for the diagnosis of sleep disorders includes consultations of the following specialists:
as well as the following investigations:
MSCT of the paranasal sinuses,
sleep endoscopy (examination of the upper respiratory tract during sleep),
polysomnography (registration of the most important functions of the body during sleep),
endoscopic examination of ENT organs.
NEUROLOGIST (SOMNOLOGY SPECIALIST)
Conducts profound diagnostics using polysomnography, which is the "gold standard" in the diagnosis of sleep disorders. The duration of the study is 8-9 hours, it is conducted in the clinic.
Conducts diagnostics of the upper respiratory tract to identify anatomical defects that provoke snoring in the nasal cavity, oropharynx and laryngopharynx. To visualize the process of snoring, doctors use sleep-endoscopy (endoscopic examination of the upper respiratory tract during sleep).
Conducts diagnosis of bite disorders, taking into account that incorrect position of the teeth can cause snoring, as well as bruxism - gnashing of teeth during sleep.
Is it possible to cure snoring? Of course! Having identified the cause, our doctors help to get rid of snoring and its complications quickly and safely using modern proven techniques: CPAP and BiPAP therapy (devices for adjusting breathing during sleep), orthodontic treatment (bite correction), surgical correction of ENT pathologies. The treatment is selected individually.
Tell me, please, at which age child's hearing should be checked-up if we were informed at the hospital before discharge that one ear does not hear. At the moment the child’s age is 1.5 months. Thank you.
These tests done in the hospital are often false negative. Hearing can be tested now, it is necessary to make an appointment to the audiologist.
