Hematology at European Medical Center
New expert – Dr. Michael Laskov, a pediatric oncologist and hematologist, receives patients at European Medical Center. His practice includes pediatric oncology, pediatric hematology, transplantation of bone marrow and peripheral stem cells, neuro-oncology and hemostaseology.
Hematologist is an expert who deals with blood disorders and hematopoietic organs. If blood analyses made during a planned routine check-up produce results deviating out of the normal ranges; if the child often has a bloody discharge from the nose or has bruises with no reason; if after a common cold, their temperature holds up or they have enlarged lymph nodes, it is well to show the child to a hematologist. The doctor will carry out all required examinations and help in solving problems with the child’s health, which sadly other experts would refer to as just a peculiarity of the organism. Dr. Michael Laskov is a member of Neuro-oncological society. In 2003, he graduated from the Moscow Medical Academy of Sechenov and by 2008 passed the British Medical Test - PLAB (Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board). He practiced in the department of hematology from 2003 till 2004, and from 2004 to 2005 in the resuscitation department at Science Center of Hematology of RAMS (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences). Then, from 2005 to 2006, he practiced in the department of Rheumatology at City Hospital no.1. From 2006 till 2007 he practiced in the department of Bone Marrow Transplantation Division at Royal Marsden Hospital (London, England). From 2007, he practiced at the Pediatric Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation of Russian Science Center of Oncology. From 2008 to 2009, he trained in the department of pediatric oncology at the Children Hospital Los Angeles (Los Angeles, USA). Then since 2009 till March 2012, he was in charge of the CNS tumor chemotherapy team at the pediatric oncology and hematology research institute of the Russian Oncology Center of RAMS. The principal standard of the treatment provided at the European Medical Center to the patients with hematological disorders is a multidisciplinary approach involving all necessary experts such as pediatricians, otorhinolaryngologists, dermatologists, oncologists, psychotherapists and other.
